Welcome to the application portal for Lighthouse Community Public Schools, Tuition-Free TK-12th Education in Oakland.
LCPS operates two schools in East Oakland:
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Eligibility:
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a full-day class offered at both Lighthouse and Lodestar.
For the 2025-26 school year: Children who turn 5 between September 2, 2025, and September 1, 2026, are eligible.
For the 2026–2027 school year: Transitional Kindergarten (TK) in California will be available to all children who will have their fourth birthday by September 1, 2026.
How to Apply for Lighthouse and Lodestar
Applying for your child to attend one of Lighthouse Community Public Schools is easy, and we're here to help.
Step 1 Create an Account
This should take less than ten minutes. You will receive an email confirmation once your account is set up.
Step 2 Start your Online Application
Click on an APPLY NOW button anywhere on this site. This will link you to our online application. Complete the guided step-by-step online application. You will be prompted to select the campus of your choice. An incomplete application can be saved. You may return later to complete it. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Don't worry, we'll send you reminders. A paper copy of your application is available at all participating charter schools. Email enroll@lighthousecharter.org to get a paper application.
Step 3 Accept/Decline Offer
Once we have all the necessary student documents, we will review your application. If there is a seat available for your child, you will receive an offer for your child to attend. Please accept or decline the offer so we can be sure about your child's attendance or give the seat to another applicant.
Step 4 Registration
If your student is offered a seat at LCPS and you accept the offer, you will need to complete a few registration forms. Someone from our enrollment team will contact you with the forms.
About Lighthouse Community Public Schools
Our schools are public, free, and open to all students, especially students who have been historically underserved by public education, including students of color, students with disabilities, and language learners. There are no tests or other barriers to admission. Admission is based on a lottery system. If applications exceed the spaces available, you will be placed on a waitlist.
